About this event

This workshop will focus on:

-Brief history of graffiti and the boom of street art and murals

-Look at some of the techniques I use (anti graffiti techniques)

-Go through the exercise of starting works with experimental techniques and take attendees through the process of refining the experimental approach into a more finished and detailed stylised piece to take home at the end of the workshop.

About the Artist:

Born in Dublin, Daniel Crossan has been obsessively drawing and painting from an early age. Growing up in London in the 80's, he was immersed in cartoons, video games, action figures and comic books. He gained his degree in Visual Communication at The Birmingham Institute of Art and Design where he discovered a DIY ethos that still echoes through his work, embracing a raw and honest approach that has remained prevalent in the work up to this day.

Crossan’s work, drawing influences from Outsider Art, Street Art, African Art, Neo Expressionism and Visionary Art, is an explosion of colour; a mix of expressive mark making and psychedelic characters that translate to a distinctly recognisable visual style.

Through naïve exploration, he brings forth a rhythm of repeated shapes, patterns, and symbology that bind the body of his work together. As he works, he finds himself immersed in the process of creation, advancing quickly and instinctively, letting his intuitive bond with the art guide him. In his characters, he strives to communicate everything from the dismal appearance of the depressed London commuter to more profound personal experiences of expanded consciousness.

In 2018, Crossan caused a stir with his audience when collaborating with filmmaker Pardeep Sahota, taking his regular YouTube vlog series into a twisted dark comedy called Bleeding Art that documented his life brutally spiralling out of control. The film was later selected for 4 separate film festivals in the U.S., including the highly revered Slamdance Festival, picking up 2 awards along the way.

More recently, Crossan has been immersed in the CryptoArt space, successfully selling his work as NFTs and is extremely excited for the possibilities given to creatives and collectors in this very new world of limited digital art and collectibles.
