SYNC Creatives: Week 1!

We launched the SYNC Creatives programme this week!

We had our induction day where the cohort came together to dive deeper into the programme. It was a wonderful opportunity for the cohort to meet, share their creative business ideas and network! They created a team contract to encourage a collaborative and supportive environment as well as taking part in creative icebreakers to get to know each other!

Our first session of the week, Hrvoje Kondzic kicked off the programme covering business vision, mission and values, the cohort were invited to share their initial ideas, form a mission and values statement. They learnt about Hrvoje’s work in Queer for Queer and understanding how to establish a creative business using powerful language to convey their message to the world. Mamta Gera then delivered a workshop on managing limiting beliefs by identifying imposter syndrome and the inner critic. The cohort reflected on how perfectionism can affect self image and how this can affect personal and professional growth. Pagan-Lilley Phillips introduced the lean canvas model to the cohort, an excellent business structure plan for them to work on throughout the course to build their vision.

The next day we had a great conversation with Rachael Castell on cashflow, a great simplified introduction to understanding how to set realistic financial projections in your own business with the cohort collaboratively working on an example together on excel. Tee Max asked them to consider what individualism means and what motivates the cohort to create and pursue the arts. Phie McKenzie took the cohort through a crash course on all things marketing, what it is, the different types and what it means for creative business.

In the evening we had our sold out master class with Isabel Sachs on starting a business! A crash course into cash flow, budgeting, short and long term goals, building a support system and useful resources to use. A brilliant insight into her journey as an entrepreneur!

We had our very own Ajay Pabial running a funding 101 workshop. We started with a great BSL icebreaker then we dived straight in with what funding is out there for the cohort as well as sharing tips on what to do when first applying! Nat Harrison shared tips on how to cultivate a successful mindset by taking the cohort through helpful visualization exercises and how they can incorporate that into their routine. We finished the week with Hrvoje going through business structures and which ones can best work for the cohort.

A fantastic start! We look forward to seeing the progress the cohort makes in the next coming weeks!
